Short Bio

Copyright Kramer, RUB
I am a professor at the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB), where I lead the Digital Sovereignty Lab (DigiSoul). Since 2022, I am a principal investigator (PI) in the DFG-funded Cluster of Excellence CASA “Securing the Digital Society”, which currently is in its second funding phase. In 2023, I was a visiting professor at the Keio University in Japan, which I also visited for six months during my PhD in 2019. Before joining RUB, I briefly was a junior professor at the Leibniz University in Hannover at the chair Human-Centered Security of Prof. Sascha Fahl and a postdoctoral researcher in GIST research section at the University of Glasgow, UK. Since 2020, I hold a PhD in Computer Science from the Technical University of Darmstadt.
Between my bachelor and master degree, I first travelled alone through 23 countries over a period of 9 months. After that, I briefly worked as a web consultant for Areasix GmbH. In September 2013, I joined the DAAD programme Language and Practical Experience in Japan (SP Japan). First, I learned Japanese language and culture before I conducted two research internships at the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency JAXA and the National Institute of Informatics (NII).
